Many of us enjoy the rush of a free voucher, a little more for a little less, but beware of the free supermarket voucher scam which is advertised on a variety of channels including text, email, WhatsApp and Twitter.
So what are the fraudsters harvesting? Your bank details, your personal information and to spread malware via your contacts, some just sign you up for unwanted premium rate subscriptions.
What to look out for:
Large amounts being offered such as £250.00 - £750.00.
Filling out a survey with personal information - this has been linked to several cases of identity theft.
Pressuring you to act quickly.
Forcing you to share the link on Facebook, WhatsApp and X with dozens of your friends. to share the voucher.
How to protect yourself:
Do not follow links provided on socials, email or text.
Age old, if it is too good to be true it usually is.
