What is Phishing?​​

It is a trick to steal your information by pretending to be a message from someone you trust.

What is Smishing?​​

It is just like phishing except they use a text message to steal your information by pretending to be a text from someone you trust.

What is Vishing?​​

Scammers use phone call or voice message to get you to sensitive or financial information

What is Malware?

Malicious software installed on your device to steal data.
Malware is a general term.

What is Social Engineering?​​

Manipulating people into giving up confidential information.

What is Synthetic Identity?​​

Combining real and fake information to create a new, fake identity.

What is Romance Baiting?

Also known as the pig butchery scam, this is romance fraud combined with investment fraud.

What is Romance Fraud?​​

Where a person gains your trust over weeks or months, then requests you help them pay a small bill, the bills get bigger, the requests more bold.

What is Ransomware?

Malicious software that locks your files until a ransom is paid.

What is Scareware?

Fake warnings claiming your device is infected to sell unnecessary software.

What is Spoofing?

Masking caller ID or email addresses to look like a trusted source. Trickery.

What is Spyware?

​Software that steals data about your online activities.

What are State intelligence actors

Government agencies or state-sponsored groups that conduct surveillance, espionage, and cyber operations to advance a country's strategic goals.

What is Whaling?

Targeting high profile executives such as CEO's & CFO's to authorise large money transfers or take deep level corporate data.

What is Pharming?

Redirecting internet traffic from a real website to a fake site by tampering with DNS settings or or sever code.

What is Quishing?

Embedding malicious links or malware downloads inside quick response codes (QR codes)

This is the most convincing spam email I have received yet. I do order repeat prescriptions, the sender arrived as NHS Ordering Service, then a click button to manage. The NHS request repeat prescriptions are completed via the NHS App. This is most likely trying to steal your data and personal information such as passwords and bank details.
