Romance fraud and investment scams with Mr Tesla himself?
Romance fraud and investment scams with Mr Tesla himself?

Fraudsters impersonating Tesla giant Elon Musk are exploiting romantic connections and investment schemes to swindle millions of dollars from victims globally all over again. Lori Fullbright Newon6.com has reported this swindle is making headlines this month. Originally reported in the UK back in May 2021 by the BBC where at that time $2m (£1.4m) was stolen in just six months according to US consumer-protection officials. You'd think we would be internationally aware of this one but scammers are charismatic and convincing.

According to Newon6.com a man in Tusla gave $41,000 to an impersonator of Elon Musk for investment. Seperately, a family in touch with Newson6 are at their wits end as they have been buying Elon several $900 gift cards, they selling their home and have packed their belongings as they believed they were moving in and getting married to the billionaire.

The Elon Crypto scam saw a $80 million dollars lost in the States in a single year, resulting in 7000 complaints to the Federal Trade Commission.

These scams can often appear on online message boards as insider tips. This is then moved to a social media platform like X where replies are posted to celebrities targeting them to raise the profile and gain prominence. If you are aged between 20 and 49, you are their target audience, and 5 times more likely to be swindled by a crypto scam.

Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Kanye West were all targeted in a Bitcoin scam on X.

If a celebrity needs your money, this is a scam.

If a celebrity keep promising to meet and never shows up, this is a scam.
